This Ahmed thing has me absolutely crushed. I have other stuff going on, which is perhaps making me more raw than I usually would be, but I keep thinking about this little guy, so excited to show people the thing he made and try and make friends in his new high school, and the absolutely repulsive response from his teachers, the principal, and the police officers, and it's making me cry, over and over. I haven't felt an impact like this since Tamir Rice, which was obviously much, much worse. But, come the fuck on people. What are we doing? What kind of world do we want to live in? Is this it? What do thoughtful, reasonable people do in situations like this? How do we fix this broken racist system? One person at a time? I don't know. Do we move to another country and just leave this one to the old white guys?
